Endangered Species Project ‘Bears’   (National Savers in partnership with Rotary)
Selected schools and community groups will be participating in workshops to produce depictions of ‘bears’, including polar bears, and all other types of bears. The bears will be made into a giant bear collage to form part of a Teddy Bears picnic exhibition, to be displayed in Holy Trinity Church from July to December.

Explore the religious history of Coventry from the Middle Ages to the present, visiting Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh places of worship. Women need to bring a scarf and men need to use a head covering (provided by the entrance) in the Gurdwara. Footwear that’s easy to slip on and off is advisable. Be prepared for some possible North Indian vegetarian hospitality. Information is provided about each place of worship en route. We start from just outside (inside, if it’s wet) the West door of Holy Trinity Church, Priory Row, CV1 5EX. And our walk includes Eagle Street and Harnall Lane West.

A key Positive Images event, connecting some of the finest musicians and poets performing today. Combining musicality with complex rhythm, santoor player Kaviraj Singh is emerging as a unique and celebrated talent of the new generation. He will be supported by Coventry’s own award-winning peace poet Antony Owen and sitarist Chris Cook.
Hopefully, this will be the first of many more “baithak” Indian Classical Music programs in Coventry. A baithak is an initiative to bring the audience closer to Indian classical music.

Josefina de Vasconcellos’ Reconciliation Statue was created 40 years ago. There are copies of it in Belfast, Hiroshima, Coventry Cathedral and other locations. After the Cathedral’s 12 o’clock litany, we will move to the statue and explore its enduring significance to post-conflict societies such as Northern Ireland.

Join us for the free film screenings of: The Idol, a fictionalized version of the life of Mohammed Assaf, a wedding singer from a refugee camp  in Gaza who went on to win 2013’s Arab Idol singing competition, boosting Palestinian national pride and inspiring hope and optimism; No Worries, Ibrahim Nawajha’s film about Abeer, a 28 year old woman who was born disabled and bears no hatred. Spending most of her time designing, writing and acting in plays, she always says, “Do not worry.”
